The center of Earthpack land is full of dead and dying trees. That's what happens in a forest. The greatest tree in the forest is the most dead, unfortunately. It has gigantic roots that open up to allow any large animal inside. Sheltering moose can fit in there for it goes back for many moose lengths. This is because it grew over a cave. Now hunters can corner a deer, or caribou. Not moose, they can break threw easily.
